केही दिनअघि विदेशी महिला हङकङमा हराएको सुनेको थिएं। तर मैले त्यो खबरलाई त्यति ध्यान दिईन। कतिपय समाचारहरु समयको अभावमा अपडेट हुदैनन्। हामीले खास गरी हङकङका नेपाली समाजभित्रका गतिविधिहरुलाई उजागर गर्ने गरेका छौं। सायद त्यसैले होला त्यो समाचारले एचकेनेपाल डट कममा स्थान पाएन…।

फेरि आजमात्र मेरो इमेलमा तिनै विदेशी महिला हराएको खवरहरु आउन थाले। इमेल प्रेषकहरुले प्रसारप्रचार गरी सहयोग गरिदिन आग्रह गरेका छन्। इमेल प्रेषकमध्ये एक आफूलाई पूर्वप्रहरी अधिकारी बताउने जेम्स मिडल्टनको पछिल्लो इमेलमा हराएकी महिला गएको क्रिसमस इभमा एकजना नेपाली पुरुषसंग युन लोङ वा काम शानको सेभेन इलेभेन पसलमा कसैले देखेको भनेका छन्। यसले झन् मेरो ध्यान आकृष्ट गर्‍यो। तर त्यो खबरको पुष्टि हुन सकेको छैन। देख्नेहरुले देखेपनि भेट्ने र खोज्नेहरुले उनलाई पाउन सकेका छैनन्..।

त्यस बाहेक मैले इमेल र विभिन्न सञ्चारमाध्यमहरुमा प्रकाशित समाचारहरु केलाउन थालें। समाचार अनुसार हराएकी महिलाको नाम रहेछ - अनी अशकियन, ३० वर्षीया क्यानाडाकी नागरिक। करीव १.६ मीटर अग्ली, अन्दाजी ५५ केजी तौल भएकी…

हङकङ प्रहरीमा दर्ज भएको उजुरी अनुसार नोभेम्बर १० तारिखका दिन अन्तिम पटक चुङकिङ मेन्सनमा ती हराएकी महिला अनी अशकियन देखिएको जनाएको छ। सेतो टिसर्ट लगाएकी अनीले पछाडि झोला भिरेकी थिइन्।

Ani Ashekian: A Young Woman Missing in Hong Kong

I am writing to you seeking help to find our Daughter, our Sister, our Best Friend.

Ani is a bright, adventurous and vibrant young woman who has a passion for travel. She has traveled the world and is very experienced.

Her most recent trip was to Asia - specifically to China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and finally India. Before her departure Ani only had enough time to secure a visa to China and decided she would get the other necessary travel visa’s while abroad.

She left the Toronto International airport on Friday, October 24th. She arrived in Beijing on October 25th.

She then flew to Hong Kong on November 9th. On November 10th, she made several withdrawals and sent a text message home. She has not used her Visa card or her bank card since that day.

Ani’s plan was to fly home from New Delhi, India on the 15th of December.

Ani was not on that flight.

The fact that Ani did not board her flight home on that day was not a surprise to her friends and family for they already knew something was amiss. Initially, Ani had kept in regular contact with her family and friends during the trip. When the calls and emails abruptly stopped people began to worry.

Her passport indicates that she entered Hong Kong on November 9th but that she has not left Hong Kong.

Hong Kong police and the Toronto police are actively working on the case.
